Description

The Yellow Eye (YE) Cherry Shrimp is a vibrant, selectively bred variant of Neocaridina davidi, developed and refined by Aquatic Arts. This line combines the timeless beauty of the classic Cherry Shrimp with the rare and captivating golden-yellow eye trait — a hallmark of the Colored Eye (YE) line and a true example of Evolution You Can See.

Each generation of our Bred by Aquatic Arts Yellow Eye line is hand-selected for color clarity, coverage, and consistency. While their rich cherry-red coloration remains the foundation, every shrimp displays luminous golden eyes that create a brilliant contrast against the red body. These shrimp are living proof of the artistry and precision behind modern Neocaridina breeding.

Please note that coloration may vary slightly among individuals depending on age, gender, and environment. Some shrimp may exhibit lighter or darker tones, but all proudly maintain the striking Yellow Eye distinction.

About the Colored Eye (YE) Trait

The Colored Eye (YE) trait represents one of the most exciting advancements in modern Neocaridina genetics. Traditionally, all Neocaridina shrimp had black eyes — but through years of careful, selective breeding, Aquatic Arts has refined this trait into glowing golden hues.

Our Bred by Aquatic Arts Yellow Eye Cherry Shrimp carry this defining feature with brilliance and stability. Every generation embodies intentional evolution guided by passion, patience, and a commitment to excellence.

Evolution You Can See.

What We Love About This Shrimp

Golden Eyes (YE): A consistent and defining feature that adds exceptional contrast.
Classic Cherry Red: Deep, rich coloration that remains vibrant in planted tanks.
Tank-Bred by Aquatic Arts: Raised in-house for superior health and adaptability.
Peaceful and Hardy: Perfect for beginners and experienced shrimp keepers alike.
Natural Cleaners: Constant grazers that help manage algae and biofilm.

Aquascaping

The Yellow Eye Cherry Shrimp stands out best in a planted aquascape that complements its vivid red and gold tones.

Plants: Pair with Java Moss, Anubias, Bucephalandra, or Subwassertang to provide cover and foraging space. Floating plants like Salvinia or Frogbit create soft lighting that helps intensify color display.
Hardscape: Incorporate dark river stones, lava rock, or Malaysian driftwood for striking contrast.
Botanicals: Add the Aquatic Arts Botanical Combo Pack or Aquatic Arts Breeder Botanical Pack to enrich the habitat with tannins and biofilm. Aquatic Arts Buddha Pods and Beal Pods make excellent natural shelters and long-term grazing surfaces.

A well-balanced aquascape encourages natural foraging, enhances coloration, and promotes colony stability.

Diet and Feeding

The Bred By Aquatic Arts YE Red Cherry Shrimp is an active grazer that thrives on a varied diet of shrimp-specific foods. Offer a mix of Aquatic Arts Shrimp Food Sample Pack favorites — Sinking Pellets, Bee Pollen, and Snowflake (soybean hulls) — to maintain health, color, and vitality.

Supplement their diet with blanched vegetables or botanicals from the Aquatic Arts Botanical Combo Pack or Breeder Botanical Pack, which promote biofilm growth and natural feeding behavior. Feed once daily or every other day, removing uneaten food after a few hours to maintain excellent water quality.

Shipping Schedule for this service

UPS 1 Day: Monday through Thursday

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
