Introduction

The Yellow Eye (YE) Goldenback Neocaridina is a remarkable selectively bred variant of the classic Goldenback Shrimp — and one of the most visually stunning examples of modern Neocaridina evolution. Its metallic yellow body and brilliant yellow eyes (YE) make it a standout addition to any freshwater aquarium.

Developed through generations of careful, intentional breeding, this shrimp embodies Evolution You Can See — where artistry and genetics meet to create a living masterpiece that redefines what Neocaridina can be.

About the Colored Eye (YE) Trait

The Colored Eye (YE) trait represents one of the most exciting advancements in Neocaridina breeding. Traditionally, these shrimp shared uniform black eyes — but through patient and selective breeding, that feature was transformed into vivid hues of yellow and gold.

The result is not just a new color, but a living expression of refinement and progress. At Aquatic Arts, we view these shrimp as proof that evolution in the aquarium is guided by purpose, not chance. The Yellow Eye (YE) Goldenback Neocaridina stands as a symbol of precision, patience, and passion — a true evolution you can see.

What We Love About This Shrimp

Golden Luminescence: A radiant yellow hue accented by a metallic dorsal stripe.
Colored Eyes (YE): The defining trait — luminous golden eyes that showcase a new stage in Neocaridina refinement.
Peaceful and Active: Hardy, social, and ideal for planted nano or community tanks.
Natural Cleaners: Constant grazers that help control algae and biofilm.

Aquascaping

The Yellow Eye (YE) Goldenback Neocaridina thrives in a planted, biofilm-rich environment that highlights its vibrant coloration and glowing eyes. Dark substrates and lush greenery make their golden tones truly pop, while natural materials encourage healthy foraging and breeding behavior.

Plants: Hardy, slow-growing species like Java Moss, Anubias, and Subwassertang offer excellent grazing surfaces and cover. Floating plants such as Salvinia or Frogbit help diffuse light for a more natural look.
Hardscape: Incorporate smooth river stones, lava rock, or Malaysian driftwood to create stable surfaces and shaded resting zones.
Botanicals: Enrich the habitat with the Aquatic Arts Botanical Combo Pack or Aquatic Arts Breeder Botanical Pack, both excellent for releasing tannins and supporting biofilm. Add Aquatic Arts Buddha Pods or Beal Pods to provide natural texture, hiding places, and long-lasting feeding surfaces.

A balanced aquascape not only enhances the shrimp’s appearance but supports a thriving ecosystem where the YE Goldenback’s color and behavior shine.

Diet and Feeding

The Yellow Eye (YE) Goldenback Neocaridina is a dedicated grazer that thrives on a diverse diet. Offer a mix of Aquatic Arts Shrimp Food Sample Pack staples — including Sinking Pellets, Bee Pollen, and Snowflake (soybean hulls) — for balanced nutrition.

Supplement with blanched vegetables or botanicals from the Aquatic Arts Botanical Combo Pack or Breeder Botanical Pack to promote natural grazing and biofilm development. Feed once daily or every other day, removing uneaten food after a few hours to maintain water quality.

Shipping Schedule for this service

UPS 1 Day: Monday through Thursday

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
