The Orange Yellow Kerri Tetra is a radiant, tank-bred variant of the classic Kerri Tetra, renowned for its golden-orange body and subtle violet shimmer. This peaceful schooling fish adds warmth, color, and energy to planted aquariums. Bred in captivity for exceptional health and adaptability, it’s a hardy, vibrant choice for aquarists seeking a visually striking yet gentle community fish.

What We Love About This Fish:

Brilliant Warm-Toned Coloration: Golden-orange hues that intensify with age and high-quality nutrition.
Peaceful and Social: Perfect for planted or community aquariums with calm, non-aggressive species.
Tank-Bred Resilience: Bred in aquarium environments for long-term hardiness and adaptability.
Captivating Schooling Display: Graceful movement and natural glow in the midwater level.

Natural Habitat:

The original Inpaichthys kerri, known as the Blue Emperor Tetra, was first described from the Aripuanã River basin in Brazil. The Orange Yellow is a tank-bred variant, selectively developed in captivity for its warm, golden tones. While wild-type Kerri Tetras inhabit slow-moving Amazonian tributaries shaded by vegetation and leaf litter, this variety thrives in similar aquarium conditions with soft lighting and plant cover.

Aquascaping:

Plants: Excellent with Amazon Sword, Cryptocoryne, Water Sprite, and floating species like Frogbit or Duckweed.
Hardscape: Use driftwood, river stones, and fine gravel to create a natural, calm environment.
Botanicals: Add Indian Almond Leaves, Casuarina Pods, or Alder Cones to provide tannins that enhance color and mimic blackwater conditions. Aquatic Arts Botanical Combo Pack is a curated mix of beautiful and beneficial leaf litter.

Diet and Feeding:

The Orange Yellow Kerri Tetra is an omnivore that thrives on a varied, high-quality diet. Feed Ultra Fresh Tropical Micro Pellets – Shrimp Delight Formula as the primary food, and supplement with occasional live or frozen treats such as Moina fleas, daphnia, brine shrimp, and bloodworms. A protein- and carotenoid-rich diet helps maintain their glowing coloration and active behavior.

Tank Mates and Compatibility:

Peaceful and schooling by nature, these tetras do best in groups of six or more. Excellent companions include rasboras, danios, Corydoras catfish, and small gouramis. Avoid housing with aggressive or fin-nipping fish.

Shrimp Compatibility:

Safe with adult Neocaridina and Caridina shrimp, though they may prey on small shrimp fry. Provide dense moss or heavy plant growth to offer cover for baby shrimp.

Breeding:

An egg-scattering species that spawns in soft, slightly acidic water. Provide fine-leaved plants or spawning mops and remove adults after spawning to prevent egg predation. Fry can be fed infusoria or finely crushed food once free-swimming.

Recommended Tank Parameters:

Temperature: 74° – 82°F (23° – 28°C)
pH: 6.5 – 7.5
KH: 1 – 8 dKH
Minimum Tank Size: 20 gallons

Care Guidelines:

Diet: Omnivorous; thrives on Ultra Fresh Tropical Micro Pellets and live or frozen foods.

Shipping Schedule for this service

UPS 1 Day: Monday through Thursday

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
