The Kleiner Prinz Sword is a rare hybrid that matures to incredible red coloration and only grows to 12 inches or less!

Kleiner Prinz Sword (Echinodorus sp.) is a rare and beautiful sword plant hybrid. Its bright green and red leaves are large and vibrant, and the plant only grows to a maximum of 12 inches, making it ideal for aquariums that are too small for most other sword plants. It can even thrive in low-tech setups wiith moderate to high lighting and nutrient-rich substrate!

Care for Kleiner Prinz Sword is very simple. This plant will benefit from CO2 supplementation, but it does not require it. While it will thrive in high lighting, it is also very durable and can do very well under moderate lighting. It requires nutrient-rich substrate for its extensive root structure. It produces very large leaves, so it must be planted with care to not cast too much shade on other plants as it grows. It is certainly only suitable for background placement in smaller aquariums, but it can also be placed in the middle ground of larger aquariums. Kleiner Prinz Sword reproduces through rhizome division as well as by the production of side shoots, which can be removed and replanted. It is very intolerant of copper, so please keep this in mind if you use tap water in your aquarium.

Kleiner Prinz Sword is a member of the plant group known as Rosettes, which are known for their extremely short stem axis and for the way their leaves grow upward from the base of the plant. This plant can grow up to 12 inches in height with the proper lighting and water quality, but it often grows to only 8-10 inches. Approximate shipping size of our Kleiner Prinz Swords is 5-6 inches tall. As with all of our plants (besides tissue cultures), our Rose Sparkle Swords are kept in water in a dedicated tank rather than plastic packaging, which means your plant will arrive much healthier.

Like most plants, Kleiner Prinz Sword will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, Nitrogen, Iron, and other plant supplements.

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.
