The Blue Panchax is a vibrant and hardy killifish, celebrated for its striking coloration and active nature.

Description:

The Blue Panchax (Aplocheilus panchax) is an eye-catching freshwater fish that features a shimmering blue body with subtle golden accents. This tank-bred variant is known for its hardiness and adaptability, making it an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced aquarists. With its peaceful demeanor and lively behavior, the Blue Panchax adds a splash of color and movement to any community tank.

These fish typically inhabit the upper levels of the water column and thrive in a well-maintained aquarium with plenty of swimming space. Blue Panchax are best kept in groups to encourage their natural schooling behavior and showcase their vibrant colors.

What We Like About This Fish:

  • Striking Coloration: Shimmering blue body with golden highlights.
  • Active and Lively: Adds dynamic movement to the aquarium.
  • Peaceful Nature: Suitable for community tanks.
  • Hardy and Adaptable: Tank-bred for resilience in various water conditions.

Aquascaping:

Blue Panchax are ideal for aquascaped tanks with plenty of open swimming areas. Their vibrant coloration contrasts beautifully with green plants and dark substrates. Consider using plants like Vallisneria, Amazon Sword, and Water Wisteria to create a balanced environment. Floating plants such as Water Lettuce or Duckweed can provide additional cover and promote their natural behavior.

Shrimp Compatible:

Blue Panchax are generally peaceful but will prey on small shrimp and some smaller fish. They can coexist with larger, peaceful invertebrates if provided with plenty of hiding spaces to minimize risk and ensure a harmonious tank environment.

Diet:

Blue Panchax are omnivorous and thrive on a varied diet. High-quality flake food, micro pellets, and frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms will be readily accepted. A varied diet helps maintain their vibrant color and overall health.

Botanicals:

Incorporating botanicals such as Indian Almond Leaves and Catappa Bark can enrich the aquarium environment for Blue Panchax. These botanicals release beneficial tannins and humic substances, creating a more natural habitat. They also provide additional hiding spots and grazing areas, promoting natural behavior and enhancing the overall health of your fish.

Shipping Schedule for this service

UPS 1 Day: Monday through Thursday

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
