Unique Coloration, Beginner-Friendly

The Green Rili Shrimp is a striking and unique variant of the popular Neocaridina davidi species. Its translucent body with vibrant green color patches creates an eye-catching contrast that adds depth and visual interest to planted tanks. Hardy and adaptable, these shrimp are ideal for beginners and seasoned shrimp keepers alike, thriving in a wide range of water conditions and helping to maintain a clean and balanced aquarium ecosystem.

DISCALIMER PLEASE READ: Our Green Rilli Shrimp showcase a stunning spectrum of green, with color variations that can include yellow or blue undertones. It's important to note that these shrimp may exhibit these hues alongside their primary green coloration, making each shrimp unique in its appearance. Whether displaying a vibrant yellow-green or a cool blue-green, our Green Rilli Shrimp add a dynamic pop of color to your aquarium.

What We Love About This Shrimp:

  • Bright, painted color patterns in shades of red, yellow, orange, and blue.
  • Extremely peaceful and compatible with a wide variety of tank mates.
  • Livebearers—watch for baby fry if males and females are housed together.
  • Easy to care for and highly adaptable to different water parameters.

Natural Habitat:

Green Rili Shrimp are selectively bred variants of Neocaridina davidi, originally found in freshwater streams and rivers in Taiwan. In their native habitat, they thrive in areas with abundant vegetation and slow-moving, clean water.

Aquascaping:

Plants: These shrimp love well-planted tanks, and species like Java Moss, Anubias, and Subwassertang are great choices. Mosses are particularly helpful as they provide hiding spaces and surfaces for biofilm to grow, which the shrimp feed on.
Hardscape: Add driftwood, smooth river rocks, and caves to create shelter and areas for algae growth.
Botanicals: Adding Indian Almond Leaves or alder cones provides a source of tannins and additional surface area for biofilm to develop.

The Botanical Combo Pack is a fantastic choice for Neocaridina Shrimp enthusiasts. This curated assortment includes botanicals like Indian Almond Leaves and alder cones, which not only provide a natural source of tannins but also help promote biofilm growth. Biofilm is a critical food source for shrimp, and the added surface area these botanicals offer ensures a healthy, shrimp-friendly environment. This pack is perfect for enhancing the natural beauty and functionality of your shrimp tank.

Diet and Feeding:

Green Rili Shrimp are omnivores that thrive on a varied diet. Feed a mix of algae wafers, shrimp-specific pellets, and blanched vegetables such as spinach or zucchini. Supplement their diet with biofilm and natural algae in the tank.

The Aquatic Arts sample variety pack provides a balanced shrimp diet with three essentials: Pollen Granules for vital nutrients, Shrimp Snowflake for long-lasting biofilm support, and Sinking Pellets for easy access on the tank floor. Together, they offer an ideal feeding regimen for healthy, vibrant shrimp.

Tank Mates and Compatibility:

These shrimp are peaceful and can be housed with other non-aggressive species like small tetras, rasboras, and snails. Avoid housing them with larger or aggressive fish that may see them as prey.

Shrimp Safe:

These shrimp are compatible with other species that share similar water parameters, making them ideal for mixed shrimp colonies. However, it is not recommended to house them with Caridina cantonensis, as their care requirements differ. They are completely safe with other shrimp species and thrive in community settings. To ensure the safety of baby shrimp (shrimplets), it’s important to provide plenty of plants and hiding spaces, offering protection from potential predators in the tank.

Recommended Tank Parameters:

Care Guidelines:

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
