Yellow Tiger Endler’s Guppy: A Dynamic Splash of Color in Your Aquarium!

The Yellow Tiger Endler’s Guppy (Poecilia wingei) is a vibrant and lively addition to any freshwater aquarium. Renowned for their bold yellow and black tiger-like stripes and shimmering iridescence, these guppies are tank-bred for hardiness and adaptability. Their active, peaceful nature and small size make them ideal for both beginner and advanced aquarists.

What We Love About This Fish:

  • Eye-Catching Coloration: Bold yellow body with tiger-like black markings and iridescent highlights.
  • Hardy and Adaptable: Tank-bred for resilience in a variety of aquarium conditions.
  • Community-Friendly: Peaceful and active, making them ideal for small, peaceful community setups.
  • Prolific Breeders: Great for aquarists interested in livebearers or expanding their aquarium community naturally.

Behavior and Social Traits:

Yellow Tiger Endler’s Guppies are highly social and thrive in groups. Males are particularly vibrant and display striking coloration, while females are larger and less colorful. Keeping a ratio of 1 male to 2-3 females is recommended to prevent over-aggressive male behaviors and to create a balanced social dynamic.

Aquascaping for Endler’s Guppies:

To replicate their natural environment, include fine-leaved plants like Java Moss, Hornwort, or Water Sprite for cover and grazing. They enjoy a well-planted tank with open swimming spaces and plenty of light. Endler’s Guppies also thrive in tanks with clean, stable water and minimal surface agitation.

Tank Mates and Compatibility:

These peaceful guppies pair well with other small, non-aggressive species, such as:

  • Tetras
  • Rasboras
  • Corydoras Catfish
  • Peaceful shrimp like Neocaridina species

Avoid housing them with large or aggressive fish that might view them as prey.

Diet:

Yellow Tiger Endler’s Guppies are omnivorous and require a varied diet to maintain their vibrant coloration and health. Provide:

  • High-quality flake food or micro pellets as a staple
  • Live or frozen foods like baby brine shrimp, daphnia, or bloodworms for protein
  • Occasional feedings of blanched vegetables like zucchini or spinach

Recommended Tank Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72° - 82°F (22° - 28°C)
  • pH: 6.5 - 8.0
  • KH: 4 - 15 dKH
  • Minimum Tank Size: 10 gallons (20 gallons or more recommended for a larger group)

Care Guidelines:

  • Diet: Omnivorous. Feed a balanced diet of flake food, live or frozen protein, and vegetable matter.

Shipping Schedule for this service

UPS 1 Day: Monday through Thursday

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
