A rare and beautiful twist on the classic Sunkist Shrimp, the Calico Sunkist Neocaridina is an exciting and colorful addition to any freshwater aquarium. Bred by our team at Aquatic Arts, these shrimp feature brilliant orange coloration flecked with white, translucent, or golden patches—earning them the “Calico” name for their mixed, painterly patterns.
These shrimp are not imported; they’re raised in the same tanks where our premium aquatic plants grow. That means you’re getting a healthy, tank-raised animal that’s well-acclimated to typical home aquarium conditions and bred for both beauty and hardiness.
What We Love About This Shrimp:
• Unique Calico Patterning: Each shrimp has a one-of-a-kind blend of orange, white, and transparent tones.
• Tank Bred by Aquatic Arts: Raised right here in our Indiana facility for health, coloration, and easy acclimation.
• Great Algae Grazers: Excellent scavengers that help keep surfaces free of biofilm and debris.
• Peaceful & Active: Perfect for community tanks and shrimp-focused setups alike.
Diet and Feeding:
Calico Sunkist Shrimp are scavengers and grazers, thriving on biofilm, algae, and decaying plant matter. We recommend supplementing their diet with high-quality shrimp foods such as Aquatic Arts Snowflake, Pollen Granules, and Sinking Pellets to keep them thriving and reproducing.
Aquascaping & Botanicals:
They love planted tanks and feel most comfortable with lots of cover.
• Plants: Java Moss,, Anubias, Hornwort
• Botanicals: Indian Almond Leaves, Alder Cones, Catappa Bark
These elements provide natural grazing surfaces and help maintain stable water parameters.
Recommended Tank Parameters:
• Temperature: 64° - 78° F (17.8° - 25.5° C)
• pH: 6.8 - 7.5
• GH: 6 - 15
• KH: 0 - 10
• TDS: 180 - 400
• Minimum Tank Size: 2 gallons (10+ gallons recommended for colonies)
Tank Mates and Compatibility:
Best kept with peaceful fish and invertebrates. Avoid aggressive or predatory species. Excellent with other Neocaridina and Caridina shrimp, small snails, and gentle schooling fish like rasboras or small tetras.
Shrimp Care Notes:
• Use a sponge filter or intake guard to protect baby shrimp.
• Gradually acclimate to new tanks using the drip method.
• Regular water changes and a mature, stable tank environment are key.

If other items are in your cart that can ship with 2 day or standard shipping options the only shipping method you can still select is UPS 1 Day Air.
UPS 1 Day is a description of the duration of time a shipment will spend in transit once it has been shipped. This does not guarantee the package will be shipped the same or next day from which the order was placed.
Shipping Schedule for this service
Current Handling Time:
1-9 business days
Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.
Shipping Rate
Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
