Sakura Red Fire Cherry Shrimp Bred by Aquatic Arts

These shrimp are bred at our warehouse in Indianapolis, Indiana, with true level 1 UV sterilization.

Beautiful, bright red coloration helps this little shrimp stand out sharply against any backdrop, plants, or substrate in any aquarium. Sakura Red Cherry Shrimp are the golden standard of the shrimp hobby and make the perfect shrimp for beginners and enthusiasts alike. These shrimp look great, clean your tank, and are a blast to watch! Like all dwarf shrimp, they are very active and breed quickly. A colony of these shrimp works as a very effective cleaning crew for your aquarium, cleaning up algae and waste.

These are freshwater shrimp and can live in almost any freshwater aquarium. They are very popular for planted tanks and community tanks, and many people use them in large aquariums for waste management and algae control. These shrimp are young (around 1/4 inch to 3/4 inch in length), but will grow up to be 1 inch on average as fully grown adults. Young shrimp will ship and acclimate better to your aquarium. Just be wary when adding them to a tank with fish as some fish may find these young shrimp as food.

All Red Cherry Shrimp are extremely adaptable creatures that can live in almost any freshwater aquarium. Some of the younger shrimp have not reached their full potential yet and will grow into a deep red color as long as they are comfortable in the tank.

CARE GUIDELINES:

  • Diet: Scavenger that feeds continually. Requires very little feeding in a well-established aquarium containing algae, biofilm, or decaying plant matter. In less mature aquariums, high-quality dry foods with high plant content can be fed multiple times daily. Aquatic Arts Snowflake Premium Shrimp Food and Aquatic Arts Pollen Granules Premium Shrimp Food are excellent supplements to the diet of any shrimp. Give them a try and your shrimp will thank you for the tasty treat!
  • Natural Botanicals are a great way to boost the immune system of your shrimp and they will also provide lots of essential biofilm for the shrimp to graze on.
  • Social behavior: Peaceful. A small group can continually replenish and grow its population.
  • Origin: Tank-bred, but wild populations indigenous to Taiwan
  • Average adult size: 1 - 1.5 inches (2.5 - 3.8 cm)
  • Average purchase size: 1/4 - 3/4 inch (0.64 - 1.9 cm)

Aquascaping: These shrimp thrive in heavily planted tanks with plenty of hiding spots. They add vibrant color to any aquascape and help maintain a clean environment by consuming algae and detritus.

Botanicals: Introducing botanicals such as Indian Almond Leaves, Alder Cones, and other natural materials can enhance the health of your shrimp. These botanicals provide essential biofilm and help in boosting the immune system of the shrimp.

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
