This uniquely beautiful guppy variety is an excellent fish for the nano, community, and planted aquarium! We are proud to offer specimens bred in house at Aquatic Arts!

Description:

The Platinum Red Tail Guppy (Poecilia reticulata) is a beautiful and hardy freshwater fish, renowned for its striking platinum body and vivid red tail. Bred by Aquatic Arts, this guppy is a perfect example of selective breeding, producing a fish that is not only visually stunning but also resilient and adaptable to a variety of water conditions. Guppies are known for their active nature and are a popular choice for both beginners and experienced aquarists alike.

Guppies are social fish that thrive in community tanks. They are best kept in groups, which allows them to display their natural schooling behavior and enhances their vibrant presence in the aquarium.

What We Like About This Fish:

  • Stunning Coloration: The combination of a platinum body and red tail makes this guppy a standout in any tank.
  • Hardy and Adaptable: Perfect for a range of water conditions and tank setups.
  • Active and Social: Brings lively movement and interaction to the aquarium.
  • Easy to Breed: Ideal for hobbyists interested in breeding and expanding their guppy population.

Aquascaping:

Platinum Red Tail Guppies thrive in well-planted aquariums that provide plenty of swimming space. Plants such as Java Moss, Hornwort, Anubias, and Amazon Sword are excellent choices. Floating plants like Duckweed and Frogbit can provide additional cover and enhance the natural look of the tank.

Shrimp Compatible:

Platinum Red Tail Guppies are generally peaceful and can coexist with larger shrimp species. However, they might prey on shrimp fry and smaller shrimp. Providing ample hiding spots with plants and decorations can help ensure a harmonious tank environment.

Diet:

Platinum Red Tail Guppies are omnivorous and will thrive on a varied diet. High-quality flake food, micro pellets, and occasional treats of frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia will keep them healthy and vibrant. A varied diet ensures they receive all necessary nutrients for optimal health and coloration.

Botanicals:

Incorporating botanicals such as Indian Almond Leaves, Catappa Bark, and Alder Cones can enrich the aquarium environment for Platinum Red Tail Guppies. These botanicals release beneficial tannins and humic substances, which can help create a more natural habitat, promote healthy coloration, and support overall fish health.

Shipping Schedule for this service

UPS 1 Day: Monday through Thursday

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
