Amazon Frogbit:
- Amazon Frogbit (Limnobium laevigatum) is a Central and South American floating plant that is commonly used in ponds, but it is also very useful in the aquarium. It is much larger than many other floating aquarium plants, so it is an excellent option for providing shade and cover for more reclusive species. Its leaves are very lily-like and will float at the water's surface, which can also be very useful for small semi-aquatic animals in terrariums and paludariums. This particular variety grows to 3-4 inches (7.5-10 cm) per pod.
PLEASE NOTE: We cannot ship Amazon Frogbit to California
Dwarf Water Lettuce:
- Dwarf Water Lettuce (Pistia statiotes), also known as Water Cabbage, is a floating plant that is believed to be native to Africa, but has been introduced to many waterways throughout the world. While Dwarf Water Lettuce is relatively small compared other species of water lettuce, it is extremely easy to propagate and grows fast. It also quickly increases in size given the right care, which makes it an excellent option for providing shade and cover for more reclusive species. Its leaves are substantial and will float at the water's surface, which can also be very useful for small semi-aquatic animals in terrariums and paludariums. Dwarf Water Lettuce has remarkable denitrification and water clarification abilities, so it is very useful in helping to keep water clean.
PLEASE NOTE: We cannot ship this dwarf water lettuce to Alabama, California, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, or Wisconsin. If you attempt to add this item to your cart to a state listed above you will receive an error message at checkout that will prevent the order from being placed.
Due to its potential to become an invasive plant, this plant must never be introduced to US native waterways.
Red Root Floaters:
- Red Root Floater (Phyllanthus fluitans) is a South American floating plant that is known and highly desired for its bright red roots and underside. Under high lighting, its leaves can turn completely red! This hardy plant propagates quickly and can provide shade to areas of the aquarium, which will encourage more reclusive species to come out of hiding. This is a truly beautiful and very beneficial plant for aquariums with gentle water flow.
Water Spangles:
- Water Spangles (Salvinia minima) is a Central and South American floating plant that is known for its relatively large size and its dangling roots, which are a great feeding area and refuge for aquatic animal fry. This hardy plant propagates quickly and can provide shade to areas of the aquarium, which will encourage more reclusive species to come out of hiding. This is a truly beautiful and very beneficial plant for aquariums with gentle water flow.
Floating Plant Care Guidelines:
- Please see listings for each plant individually for best care of each plant, though they are all very similar.

Shipping Schedule for this service
Current Handling Time:
1-9 business days
Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.
Shipping Rate
Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
