This stunning floating plant is a rare variant of the Amazon Frogbit, featuring tiger striped markings around the edges!
The Tiger Striped Amazon Frogbit (Limnobium laevigatum) is a Central and South American floating plant that is commonly used in ponds, but it is also very useful in the aquarium. It can grow to be much larger than many other floating aquarium plants, so it is an excellent option for providing shade and cover for more reclusive species. Its leaves are very lily-like and will float at the water's surface, which can also be very useful for small semi-aquatic animals in terrariums and paludariums. Unlike the traditional Amazon Frogbit that has solid green leaves, this particular variant has tiger stripe lines throughout most if not all of its leaves and grows to the perfect size of 3-4 inches (7.5-10 cm) per pod.
Care is extremely easy for the Tiger Striped Frogbit. Since it is a floating plant, it does not require planting in the substrate. Its leaves can grow to a massive size, so it often needs to be thinned out to allow light and oxygen to reach the rest of the aquarium. It can withstand wide temperature range and has very few specialized requirements other than that the top of the plant should not be submerged or else it will rot. It does not require CO2 supplementation. We recommend high lighting for this particular variant to maintain the stunning markings on the plant.
No aquarium plant distributor/nursery/wholesaler/retailer can or will guarantee their plants to be 100% snail free. We can not guarantee our aquarium plants will be snail free.

Shipping Schedule for this service
Current Handling Time:
1-9 business days
Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.
Shipping Rate
Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
