The Halfmoon Mustard Gas Betta is a breathtaking variation of Betta splendens, known for its vibrant contrast of deep blue or green body colors with bright yellow or orange fins. This striking combination of colors gives the Mustard Gas Betta a unique and dramatic appearance, making it a favorite among betta enthusiasts. Its Halfmoon fin shape, which spreads to a full 180 degrees, adds to its stunning display.

Each Betta fish we offer is truly one of a kind, with unique colors and patterns that make no two alike. The fish photographed in our listings are examples of the stunning Betta you could receive, though not the exact fish. When you buy from us, you're getting a living work of art.

What We Love About This Fish:

  • Gorgeous contrast of deep blue or green body with bright yellow or orange fins.
  • Peaceful toward non-aggressive species, but best kept with no other bettas.
  • Hardy and adaptable to a variety of water conditions.
  • Displays an impressive 180-degree fin spread, adding elegance to any tank.

Natural Habitat:

Bettas are native to the slow-moving waters of Southeast Asia, where they thrive in rice paddies, shallow streams, and ponds. These waters are often densely planted and have minimal flow, allowing Bettas to build bubble nests and stake out territories.

Aquascaping:

  • Plants: Bettas enjoy plants like Java FernAnubias, Bucephalandra, and Marimo Moss Balls, which provide resting spots and hiding places.
  • Hardscape: Smooth stones and driftwood, like Malaysian Driftwood, can help create natural territorial markers.
  • Botanicals: Add Indian Almond Leaves to mimic natural tannin-rich waters and promote a healthy environment for your betta.

Diet and Feeding:

Halfmoon Mustard Gas Bettas are carnivores and require a protein-rich diet. Feed high-quality betta pellets or flakes daily, and supplement with frozen or live treats such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, or daphnia to enhance their vibrant colors and overall health.

Tank Mates and Compatibility:

Bettas are best kept alone or with peaceful, non-aggressive tank mates like snails, Corydoras catfish, or neon tetras. Avoid fin-nippers, and never house male bettas together due to their territorial nature.

Shrimp Safe:

Halfmoon Mustard Gas Bettas are not shrimp safe and may prey on adult shrimp as well as shrimp fry.

Recommended Tank Parameters:

  • Temperature: 75-80°F (24-27°C)

Shipping Schedule for this service

UPS 1 Day: Monday through Thursday

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
