The Red Devil Angelfish is a fiery and stunning variety of Pterophyllum scalare that showcases deep red and orange hues across its body and fins, with dramatic black markings accentuating its vibrant coloration. These angelfish are tank-bred, ensuring a hardy and adaptable specimen for your aquarium. With their graceful swimming and striking appearance, Red Devil Angelfish make a fantastic centerpiece in both community and species-only setups.

What We Love About This Fish:

Vivid Coloration: Striking red and orange hues make this angelfish a standout in any aquarium.
Hardy and Adaptable: Tank-bred for resilience and ease of care.
Graceful Swimming: Elegant movements that captivate hobbyists.
Peaceful Temperament: Generally calm and compatible with other non-aggressive fish.

Natural Habitat:

In the wild, angelfish are native to the slow-moving rivers and floodplains of the Amazon Basin, where they thrive in soft, slightly acidic water with plenty of vegetation. The Red Devil Angelfish, being a tank-bred variety, is well-suited for home aquariums and tolerates a wider range of water conditions.

Aquascaping:

Plants: Ideal companions include Amazon Sword, Anubias, Java Fern, and Cryptocorynes.
Hardscape: Add river stones, driftwood, and vertical decorations to mimic their natural environment and provide swimming paths.
Botanicals: Indian Almond Leaves and alder cones can enrich the water with beneficial tannins. Our Botanical Combo Pack is a great assortment of beneficial leaves and plant matter.

Diet and Feeding:

Red Devil Angelfish are omnivorous and thrive on a varied diet. Provide high-quality flake food, micro pellets, and frozen or live foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia to maintain vibrant coloration and health.

Tank Mates and Compatibility:

Red Devil Angelfish are generally peaceful but may become territorial when breeding. They pair well with non-aggressive tank mates such as tetras, corydoras, and smaller rainbowfish. Avoid housing them with fin-nipping species or aggressive fish.

Shrimp Safe:

Not recommended for tanks with ornamental shrimp, as adult angelfish may see shrimp and their fry as a food source.

Breeding:

Breeding Red Devil Angelfish is relatively straightforward in a dedicated setup. They form monogamous pairs and prefer flat surfaces like leaves or aquarium glass for egg-laying. Keep the water clean, warm (around 80°F/27°C), and slightly acidic for successful breeding.

Recommended Tank Parameters:

Temperature: 75° - 82°F (24° - 28°C)

Shipping Schedule for this service

UPS 1 Day: Monday through Thursday

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
