Description

The Yellow Eye (YE) Red Supreme Neocaridina Shrimp is one of the most striking selectively bred variants developed by Aquatic Arts, showcasing intense coloration and contrast unlike any other Neocaridina. These shrimp feature a deep, opaque red body paired with bright golden-yellow eyes — a signature of the Colored Eye (YE) trait and a hallmark of Evolution You Can See.

Each generation of our Bred By Aquatic Arts Yellow Eye line is refined for color depth, clarity, and consistency. The Red Supreme’s vivid hue and contrasting eyes create a bold, high-impact display that stands out beautifully in planted tanks.

Please note that individual coloration may vary based on age, gender, and tank environment. Some shrimp may exhibit slightly lighter or darker red tones while still maintaining the signature Yellow Eye distinction.

About the Colored Eye (YE) Trait

The Colored Eye (YE) trait represents one of the most significant advancements in modern shrimp breeding. Originally, all Neocaridina shrimp had black eyes — but through careful and deliberate selection, this feature was transformed into luminous golden tones.

At Aquatic Arts, we’ve elevated this trait through consistent refinement, pairing the brilliance of the Yellow Eye with the intensity of the Red Supreme’s pigment. These shrimp are living proof that evolution in aquatics is not random — it’s guided by dedication, creativity, and care.

Evolution You Can See.

What We Love About This Shrimp

Intense Red Coloration: A solid, high-grade red body that provides a vivid backdrop for the colored eyes.
Yellow Eyes (YE): The defining feature — bright golden-yellow eyes that add unmatched contrast.
Tank-Bred by Aquatic Arts: Bred in-house for health, consistency, and vibrancy.
Peaceful and Hardy: A dependable, beginner-friendly shrimp that thrives in planted aquariums.
Natural Cleaners: Excellent grazers that help manage algae and biofilm growth.

Aquascaping

The Yellow Eye (YE) Red Supreme is best displayed in a planted aquarium that enhances its bold color palette. Its red body contrasts beautifully against green plants and darker substrates, while its yellow eyes glint brightly under natural or LED lighting.

Plants: Pair with Java Moss, Anubias, Bucephalandra, or Subwassertang to provide cover and foraging space. Floating plants like Salvinia or Frogbit create soft lighting that helps intensify color display.
Hardscape: Incorporate dark river stones, lava rock, or Malaysian driftwood for striking contrast.
Botanicals: Add the Aquatic Arts Botanical Combo Pack or Aquatic Arts Breeder Botanical Pack to enrich the habitat with tannins and biofilm. Aquatic Arts Buddha Pods and Beal Pods make excellent natural shelters and long-term grazing surfaces.

A well-designed aquascape not only highlights their beauty but fosters natural behavior and stable colony growth.

Diet and Feeding

The Bred By Aquatic Arts YE Red Supreme is an active grazer that thrives on a varied diet of shrimp-specific foods. Offer a mix of Aquatic Arts Shrimp Food Sample Pack favorites — Sinking Pellets, Bee Pollen, and Snowflake (soybean hulls) — to maintain health, color, and vitality.

Supplement their diet with blanched vegetables or botanicals from the Aquatic Arts Botanical Combo Pack or Breeder Botanical Pack, which promote biofilm growth and natural feeding behavior. Feed once daily or every other day, removing uneaten food after a few hours to maintain excellent water quality.

Shipping Schedule for this service

UPS 1 Day: Monday through Thursday

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
