The C005 Pantanalensis Cory (Corydoras pantanalensis) is a rare and highly sought-after Corydoras species, known for its striking coloration and slightly larger size compared to many other Corydoras. Native to the Pantanal wetlands of South America, this species features a shimmering silver-gray body with subtle dark markings and an iridescent sheen along its flanks. Unlike many Corydoras, the C005 develops a slightly more elongated body shape and robust build, making it a standout addition to any aquarium.

These peaceful bottom dwellers are highly social and thrive in groups, making them an excellent choice for community tanks with soft substrates and plenty of hiding spots.

What We Love About This Fish:

Rare and Unique Corydoras – Not commonly available in the hobby.
Shimmering, Iridescent Body – Subtle hues shift under different lighting.
Peaceful and Social – Best kept in groups of 5 or more.
Great for Community Tanks – Non-aggressive and gets along with a variety of tank mates.

Natural Habitat:

The C005 Pantanalensis Cory originates from the slow-moving, soft-water streams and floodplains of the Pantanal wetlands in South America. These waters are typically tannin-rich, with sandy or muddy substrates and dense aquatic vegetation providing shade and shelter.

Aquascaping:

Plants: Best suited for planted aquariums with broad-leafed plants like Amazon Sword, Anubias, and Cryptocoryne.
Hardscape: Smooth driftwood and rounded river stones provide natural shelter.
Botanicals: Indian Almond Leaves and Alder Cones help create a soft, tannin-rich environment.

Diet and Feeding:

The C005 Pantanalensis Cory is an omnivore and will readily accept a variety of sinking foods. A balanced diet includes:
✔ High-quality sinking pellets and wafers
✔ Live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and blackworms
✔ Occasional blanched vegetables like zucchini and cucumber

Providing a varied diet ensures optimal health and longevity.

Tank Mates and Compatibility:

The C005 Pantanalensis Cory is a peaceful species that thrives in a well-maintained community aquarium. Suitable tank mates include:
✔ Tetras (Rummynose, Cardinal, Ember)
✔ Rasboras and peaceful barbs
✔ Dwarf cichlids (Apistogramma, Bolivian Rams)
✔ Other Corydoras species and peaceful catfish

🚫 Avoid housing with aggressive cichlids, large predatory fish, or fin-nipping species.

Shrimp Safe?

Yes, this species is safe with adult shrimp but may consume baby shrimp.

Shipping Schedule for this service

UPS 1 Day: Monday through Thursday

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
