Hammer Leaf Bulb is a very popular background plant that is extremely adaptable and quickly grows to an impressive size!

Hammer Leaf Bulb (Aponogeton bolivinianus) is a favorite among many aquarists. This bulb plant grows to a very impressive size, and very quickly with good care. It produces dozens of wavy leaves, all of which can easily surpass 12 inches in length. Hammer Leaf Bulb is very hardy and undemanding in care, so it is an excellent plant for beginners and experts alike. As it grows, it produces a bloom stalk that will eventually have a small white flower above the water line. This centerpiece plant is sure to be a focal point in any aquarium

As stated above, Hammer Leaf Bulb is a rather versatile plant that can thrive in almost any light conditions from low to high and does not require CO2 supplementation. It is not particular about water flow as long as extreme conditions are avoided. Like many Aponogeton bulb plants, it can go through resting/dormant periods where it sheds its leaves. The blooming period of this plant can be avoided by trimming back the bloom stalk before it flowers.

Like most plants, Hammer Leaf Bulb will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, Nitrogen and other plant supplements. However, supplementation is not required for this plant to grow and stay healthy.

No aquarium plant distributor/nursery/wholesaler/retailer can or will guarantee their plants to be 100% snail free. We can not guarantee our plants will be snail free.

We are currently offering this plant as a sprouted bulb. It may lose its leaves during shipment, but will regrow them once it settles into the aquarium. It is not necessary to bury the bulb in the substrate. The bulb should only be minimally embedded in the substrate or it is prone to rot.
