The Leopard Bushfish is the perfect candidate for your predator or oddball aquarium!

The Leopard Bushfish (Ctenopoma acutirostre) is a classic species that is well-known in the aquarium hobby and is a particular favorite of enthusiasts of oddball predators. It inhabits densely vegetated areas of the Congo River Basin.  It reaches a manageable adult size and will get along with a wide array of tankmates. It is an excellent ornamental fish that is graceful and beautifully marked.

The Leopard Bushfish is a somewhat reclusive and timid species, especially when getting settled into a new aquarium. It is not an aggressive fish, but it has a large mouth and will eat fish and invertebrates that are small enough to be considered prey. Adult specimens can sometimes be territorial with one another, so a larger tank is required when keeping a group. While it is a reasonably hardy species, the Leopard Bushfish prefers an aquarium with plenty of vegetation, overhanging branches, and floating plants. Additional decor in the form of rockwork will be appreciated as well.

The Leopard Bushfish is a predator. It requires a varied diet for optimal health, and it likely will need live and frozen meaty foods initially. In time, it may also accept dry foods.
