Willow Hygro is a very elegant plant that is excellent for the aquarium background in both low-tech and high-tech setups with adequate lighting!

Willow Hygro (Hygrophila corymbosa "Augustifolia") is a very hardy, attractive stem plant with narrow leaves that sway in the water current. It can thrive in low-tech setups as long as it has moderate to (preferably) high lighting. As it matures, its leaves provide extensive foliage that is very suitable for the background of the aquarium. There are many variants of this species, and the Augustifolia variant is known for its long, narrow leaves. While Willow Hygro naturally grows emersed, it is very adaptable to long-term submersed conditions. In addition to being an excellent aquarium plant, it is also ideal for paludariums.

Willow Hygro is an easy plant to maintain. It does not require CO2 supplementation, though it will certainly benefit from it. It will look its best under moderate to high lighting and will be sturdiest under high lighting. Due to the thin texture of its leaves, Willow Hygro is not suitable for aquariums with destructive animals such as crayfish, large cichlids, or goldfish.

Like most plants, Willow Hygro will benefit from supplementation such as Seachem Flourish, Flourish Excel, nitrogen, and other plant supplements. It actually requires a relatively high level of nutrients and will begin to yellow if it is undernourished. However, it is a rather resilient plant and its high nutrient consumption will contribute greatly to limiting algae growth.

No aquarium plant distributor/nursery/wholesaler/retailer can or will guarantee their plants to be 100% snail free. We can not guarantee our plants will be snail free.
