Rotala Orange Juice is a very prolific, versatile stem plant that is one of the easier "red leaf" plants to keep. While the semi-emersed/creeping version of this plant has round leaves, its more common submersed/aquatic form has longer, pointed leaves. We are happy to offer this plant fully grown submerged so it is ready for your tank with little to no melting! With moderate to high lighting, this plant will develop a great deal of orange, and some pink and red coloration.  It can be grown emersed or submerged, so it is an excellent plant for aquariums, vivariums, paludariums, and terrariums.

Orange Juice Rotala does not have the stringent care requirements of many of its relatives. It requires moderate to high lighting. The key to maximum orange coloration is a combination of high lighting, high phosphates, and low nitrates in the aquarium. Like most stem plants, this plant can be easily propagated through trimming and replanting of the cuttings. In the case of this prolific plant, regular trimming may be necessary to prevent overgrowth. CO2  supplementation is beneficial, but certainly not required for this plant.

What We Like About This Plant:

  • Full, deep orange coloration with proper care
  • Very prolific and easy to prune
  • Elegant appearance
  • Superb background or accent plant

Care Guidelines:

  • Temperature: 70° - 86° F (21° - 30° C)
  • pH: 5.5 - 7.5
  • Lighting: Moderate to High, more red coloration is achieved with higher lighting, high phosphates, low nitrates, and CO2
  • Aquarium placement: Middle to Background
  • Care: Moderate

Shipping Schedule for this service

UPS 1 Day: Monday through Thursday

Current Handling Time:

1-9 business days

Here at Aquatic Arts, we consider the welfare of the live animals we are shipping to be of the foremost importance. This process is much more involved than simply creating a shipping label and affixing it to a box. Depending on the order, it takes from 4 to 7 people to complete this process properly. We check the weather conditions here where they fly out of the Indianapolis UPS facility and the destination for each shipment. We start early each morning and go through a multi-step process to have the day's shipments prepared in time for the UPS pickup. The volume of orders in our system also affects the processing time. Therefore our stated handling time is 1-9 business days.

Shipping Rate

Pricing is by size of package needed to fill entire order and distance it must travel. It will be calculated at checkout.
